Togeo history

TS Blog is our personal blog and journal, what we are workinging on, progress on our projects and a little bit about our lives.

This last couple of weeks have been real hectic as we work on getting the site set up. Anyone who knows us will realise that for us this is a major stepping stone that we have been fumbling around with for several years. We have went through a number of changes with this domain and other projects we have been involved with, but are finally bringing it all together.

It started about four years ago when we wanted to put up a little website for a place to store our art and music on the net. My real name is George and sum-1 is Tobias so we came up with Togeo as a combination of our names. Well little did we realise how much we had to learn. To accomplish all of the things we would need just to get the site up and running just right, even before we got into the artistic side of things was going to be a big educational process. We spent a lot of the first year getting familiar with web programming, HTML, PHP, CSS and a bit of Javascript. That was followed by where are we going to put the site, so along comes more studying. Web hosting, domains, Apache, mySQL just to name a few and finally we are thinking its going to be finished soon. Oh no…that would be too simple, so now its what content management system or blogging software are we going to use. We started with home pages then LDU cms, followed by a quick run through PHPNuke, Mambo and quite a few others before we settled on E107 cms, because it contained a forum and a lot of built in plugs to get us started.

We built a couple gaming websites, a few personal blogs and even tried a comedy, cooking and digital gadget sites. There were quite a few arguments between myself and Toby over what colors to make these sites, or what fonts to use, which graphics and other stupid stuff, but cool heads and a few days not talking to each other usualy prevailed. A few more sites and lots of mistakes later we switched over to WordPress and have been using that for a little over a year.

Now you may be thinking… thats all fine but what about the art and music? True, we might as well been full time college students studying multimedia and internet design because it took just about as long to do it on our own, but has been a rich learning experience and has caused me to gain a few gray hairs as well. But here we are and I think it is coming along quite nicely. We now spend most of our time learning more about the different graphics and music making software which is also quite a learning experience but truthfully much more fun and productive.

So there you have it, thats where we’ve been and this (Togeo Studios) is where we are going. Your are all invited from sum-1 and myself to climb on board the Togeo train and take the ride with us. Hopefully our experiences can help others get through the tricky parts and I am sure we can learn a lot more from all of you as well.
