Voxengo develops high end studio quality effect plugins. From the fine Voxengo Elephant mastering limiter to the impressive Pristine Space convulsion impulse reverb they have some of the most powerful yet affordable effects you could apply to your mix. While most are for sale at reasonable prices, they do have quite a few good, high quality effects available for free.
Here is one of my favorites:
Voxengo Boogex is a guitar amp simulator with some very nice distortion tweeking abilitys from subtle fuzz to full force heavy metal growl. Feed this plugin the signal from any simple tone generator, start playing with the well designed controls and you will be amazed at the amount of huge gritty sounds you can produce with it. I use this plugin a lot and have never been disapointed in the outcome.
It can provide a wide variety of amp simulations and has a very reasonable cpu draw and latency.
Top it off with the ability to load in impulse responses in wav format and you have a very capable and useful addition to your VST effects rack.
They also have some other nice free effects like the essEQ, Overtone GEQ, Tube Amp, Audio Delay and Stereo Touch imaging enhancer.
If your in the need of a good spectrum analyzer there is the Voxengo Span, a real-time FFT analyzer based on the GlissEQ and Curve EQ professional equlizer units.
These are all well designed, very usable plugins and there are are a few more other free effects available. You will definately not be disapointed and these plugs will add a few new weapons to your arsenal of effects.
