Its getting close to that time of year. So....

What features would you like to see added to Ableton Live in the next version?

I would like to see the macro buttons on devices expanded. Being able to set the amount when you create a group. maybe a plus minus selector to increase by rows of two?

More editing features for midi clips.

Envelopes (clips) for the return tracks. The slots are already there anyway.

LFO devices or modulator devices that can be assigned to parameters on other devices, or something like that instead of having to use dummy clips.

Well it doesnt look like there is going to be an update this year. Ableton is sharing a booth with the Cycling people at NAMM in January. Which could mean something. But then I think they shared a both with them last year too.

On the other hand not having a yearly update is no big deal. I guess they havent made enough changes to warrant a release yet so....

Well there may not have been an update in 2008, but Live 8 thats coming out this year sure is a big upgrade. Being able to finally control more than just the first 128 parameters in a VST plugin, a looper device, crossfading in the arrange view. They didnt seem to allow more than 8 macros but with all the other stuff they got coming its going to be big. The akai apc40 controller has Sum-1 drooling.

The Akai APC40 is pretty nice looking. Should give the Lemur some competition, at least with Ableton users. I still dont know how much they cost though.

I think I like the part about Live 8 and MaxMSP. I could build some cool effects and synths then. Again I dont know what Max for Live costs either. Will have to wait and see.

Well, I still haven't gotten an APC yet and now with the launchpad from novation coming out soon I'm not sure if I will.

TBH the launchpad has pretty much everything I was looking for and the price tag dosen't make my wallet cry.

Anyway I'm currently still undecided but i think I'll be going for a launchpad when the time comes.
